New Year, New Organized You!

We’re officially two weeks into the new year AND a new decade! How are your goals looking? If you’re like me, your New Year’s resolutions include a few organizing goals (o.k., more than a few for me).

But before we get to the #declutter resolutions, let’s refresh on WHY we organize.

I talk a lot about “organizational happiness.” Cleaning things out and organizing what you have in the most appealing and efficient way possible doesn’t just make your place look good or provide a killer Instagram photo.

It also helps on the inside

When you can find something you need quickly, instead of digging for something in a drawer full of junk, your mind is more relaxed. When you know what clothes you have in your closet, you can save time, energy and money trying to find something to wear. When your pantry is stocked and organized, it’s easier to make healthy food for yourself and your family.

Less anxiety, less frustration. More deep breaths, more time, more peace.

“Organizational Happiness = The feeling of joy, simplicity and lightness when you sync your mind, body, material belongings and surrounding physical space, making room for more positivity and productivity.”

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or don’t know where to start on those 2020 organizational goals, focus on attainable resolutions that you can track instead of being too broad or vague.

For example, you can:

  • Create a morning and/or nighttime routine

  • Pick one area of your daily life and house to focus on (like paperwork and your office).

  • Choose resolutions that you can accomplish a little bit each day. Maybe you commit to organizing 10 minutes a day (follow us for quick organizing tips monthly.)

  • As always purge! The new year is a great time to do an inventory of your home. Do the items in your life and space support your goals and resolutions for 2020? What items did you not use in 2019?
