It’s Kitchen Month at Synced Spaces! We couldn’t be more excited to help you optimize one of the most important rooms in your house. No matter how big or small your home is, the kitchen is literally the command center of your space.
You eat here. You entertain here. Your kids do homework here. This is where everyone hangs out at a party. Where you make scrambled eggs and coffee every morning, and wind down with a glass of wine in the evening.
Make this room work optimally for you and your family with these simple organizing tips:
- Get the most out of your storage with hanging shelf racks. These can go under anything, but we love doubling cabinet storage by using them for plates and cups like this: Under the Shelf Racks.
- Make it easier to see and quickly grab anything you need with roll out kitchen drawers. Here are a few we love: This bamboo set is our fave!
You can also get really nice metal ones (here.) - Use a sheet pan/cutting board organizer and make these every-day items easier to store and to find when you need them. Use this storage device Here, or even a paper sorter does the trick.
- Utilize the entire shelf space by hanging measuring cups or coffee cups on hooks. I can’t stress enough how much you can do with hooks in the kitchen. Check out the 3M line here.
- We LOVE to keep clips, rubber bands, labels and pens on hand in the kitchen. Have one place for them, and be religious about putting them back when you throw your snacks away.
- Water bottles can be a pain to store with their height and size. But not if you store them in this wine rack holder here or in file folders.
- Keep everyday cleaning products right where you need them. Turn the inside of the door under your sink into a storage station for things like sponges, soap and drain plugs.
Or use a storage container made specifically for doors. here - Since you’re always grabbing ziplock bags on the go, have a place for them that’s easy to access and pull from, like racks, a file folder on the door, or an over-the-door holder.

- Lids are one of the biggest culprits of disorganization, but there are many different ways to store them. Grab a bin, use a curtain rod on the door, or even use a file folder.
- Control your baggage! For grocery bags, get a dispenser, and when it’s full don’t keep anymore. Put any extras in your car so you have them at the ready when you go to the store. We love this $2 option from Ikea. You can also store trash bags on a DIY dispenser using curtain rod brackets and a dowel (just like a toilet paper dispenser, but slightly longer), purchased at any hardware store.
- OK, we said 10 Tips, but here’s a bonus: my personal pet peeve when cleaning the kitchen is stainless steel. I will literally get off the sofa when I can still see smudges. I use wipes to get the grit off, then spray and wipe with glass cleaner. It works like a charm. Wipes here.
